The Woodlands Wildflower Festival: Perfect Venue to Promote Your Business to the Community

The Woodlands Wildflower Festival is set for Saturday, October 23 from 10 am – 2 pm at the award-winning Rob Fleming Park in the Village of Creekside Park. This is a new venue with extra space to make The Woodlands Wildflower Festival bigger than ever!

At the festival, a variety of free wildflower seeds will be distributed by local businesses. Also featured will be informative landscaping and environmental exhibits, native plants and gift items for sale, a free petting zoo and pony rides, giant inflatable rides, food and more. Lovable mascot of The Woodlands, Puffy Pine Cone, will make a special guest appearance from 11 am until 12 noon.

As a seed sponsor for The Woodlands Wildflower Festival, you will receive 2,500 seed packets with your logo on the packets and a booth space at the event. You name or company name will also appear on the official poster of The Woodlands Wildflower Festival. The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau to Sponsor 2nd Annual Oktoberfest

Officials at The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) are gearing up to create a destination fun weekend in The Woodlands with Oktoberfest, presented by The Woodlands Rotary Club Foundation. Set for September 24 – 26 at Town Green Park in The Woodlands along The Woodlands Waterway®, Oktoberfest will feature live music and entertainment, a delicious selection of German food including bratwurst, sauerkraut and strudel, beverages, and a kid’s activity area coordinated by The Woodlands Children’s Museum.

“This is a great opportunity for visitors and residents to experience the great beauty and heritage of culture found in The Woodlands,” said Nick Wolda, President of The Woodlands CVB. “Given this event is the largest of its kind in a 200-mile radius, we believe Oktoberfest will continue to gain momentum as a great event and bring people to enjoy a great experience in The Woodlands.”

Eighth Annual Fall Home & Garden Show Set for August 28 & 29

Visitors to the Eighth Annual Fall Home & Garden Show at The Woodlands, set for Saturday and Sunday, August 28 & 29 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center, will learn the merits of going green from local speakers with new ideas and new products for living well. More than 200 exhibitors are participating in the show.

Featured presenters and topics include: LaVerne Williams, AIA, LEED AP, (pictured) a Houston-based green architect, the importance of building environmentally conscious homes; John Ferguson, Owner of Nature’s Way Resources, recycling and fertilizer; Ron Thompson of Thompson’s Landscape Service, and Jason McKenzie, Owner of The Piney Woods Nursery and Landscaping, utilizing the natural world and creating green gardens that incorporate fruitful plants; Jeff Cunningham, Owner ofCunningham Gas Products, outdoor cooking; Dan Marshall, Owner of Innovative Skylights & Attics, and Jodi Hamlin, South Texas Territory Manager for Water Furnace Geothermal, reducing heating and cooling costs; and Zac Trahan, Program Manager of the Texas Campaign for the Environment Houston office, recycling electronic waste.

Brisk Leasing Activity Continues at Market Street

Market Street has leased more than 10,000 square feet of space to five new retail and dining spots as the shopping, dining and entertainment destination rounds out its tenant mix in anticipation of the fall and holiday shopping seasons.

Openings scheduled by this fall include Schilleci’s Cajun Kitchenwhere diners can enjoy the restaurant’s unique taste of New Orleans with great-tasting gumbo and other favorites. Another Market Street newcomer is The Cupcakery, a family-owned business with locations in Las Vegas and Dallas where more than one million cupcakes have been enjoyed.

Besides the additions of these two new dining spots, Market Street is expanding its collection of health and beauty tenants with the addition of the European Wax Center, opening between Massage Envyand Glo Sun Spa, and Xtreme Lashes, a global leader in eyelash extensions, opening next toLenscrafters.

Schools for Students in The Woodlands Make the Grade

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) published its 2010 Accountability Ratings on Friday, July 30. Schools attended by children living in The Woodlands have achieved educational excellence. All of the elementary schools that children in The Woodlands attend have been rated Exemplary.

The Woodlands is comprised of three different school districts:Conroe Independent School District; Tomball Independent School District for children who reside in the Village of Creekside Park; and Magnolia Independent School District for students who live in the 400-acre area of May Valley in the Village of Sterling Ridge.

Conroe ISD has been named an Exemplary District by the TEA.Collins Intermediate and Mitchell Intermediate have been rated Exemplary. Wilkerson Intermediate has been rated Recognized, the second highest rating. Knox Junior High School and McCullough Junior High have been rated as Exemplary. The Woodlands High School and The Woodlands College Park High School (top photo) have been rated Recognized. All of the Conroe ISD elementary schools attended by children in The Woodlands have been rated Exemplary.

Magnolia ISD is a Recognized District by the TEA. Smith Elementary has been rated Exemplary. Bear Branch 6th Grade Campus, Bear Branch Junior High and Magnolia High School have been rated Recognized.

The TEA rated Tomball ISD as a Recognized District. Creekside Forest Elementary K-6 School(bottom photo), located in the Village of Creekside Park, is rated as an Exemplary school. Tomball Junior High and Tomball High School have been rated Recognized.
