SPOTLIGHT ON HIGHLAND HOMES IN ALMONDELL IN MAY VALLEY

Highland Homes is offering single-family homes in Almondell in the new 400-acre area of May Valley in the Village of Sterling Ridge. Homes are priced from the $380’s to the $500’s.

THE CYNTHIA WOODS MITCHELL PAVILION ENDS ITS 20TH SEASON RANKED SIXTH IN THE WORLD

According to the Jan. 18, 2010, edition of Pollstar magazine, the concert industry’s leading trade publication, The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion ranked sixth in its listing of the top 100 amphitheaters in the world based on the number of tickets sold in 2009. The Pavilion’s ticket sales totaled 346,519 for shows played between January 1 and December 31, 2009.

The Pavilion’s sixth-place ranking is despite opening a month later than normal due to reconstruction from damage sustained by Hurricane Ike in September 2008. The Pavilion reopened May 1, 2009, after undergoing a $9.5 million renovation and expansion.

“Our 20th season could not have been better. Along with celebrating our 20 years, we opened with a newly renovated and expanded venue to a sold-out weekend of performances by the Dave Matthews Band and Kenny Chesney,” said Jerry MacDonald, president and CEO of The Pavilion.

The Pavilion had 14 sold-out concerts in 2009 including the Dave Matthews Band May 1, Kenny Chesney May 3,Buzzfest XXII May 10, No Doubt May 31, Aerosmith July 17, Coldplay July 22, Def Leppard Aug. 19,Incubus Aug. 21, Lil’ Wayne Aug. 22, Crosby, Stills and Nash Aug. 28, Depeche Mode Aug. 30, NickelbackSept. 12, Blink-182 Sept. 24 and Buzzfest XXIII Oct. 24.

Free giant inflatable rides and rock walls, pony rides, petting zoo, hay rides and face painting will entertain the crowd. Musical entertainment from local talent will also be highlighted.

THE WOODLANDS TOWNSHIP TO HOLD TOWN HALL MEETING

The Woodlands Township Board of Directors will hold a Town Hall Meetingfrom 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center. The meeting is open to the public, and residents and businesses are encouraged to attend.

“The Woodlands Township Town Hall Meeting will address 2010 initiatives and allow residents and businesses the opportunity to provide feedback to The Woodlands Township Board of Directors,” said Chairman of the Board Nelda Blair.

Free parking for the meeting will be available at the Town Center Garage at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilio. The fourth floor of the garage is connected via skywalk to The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center. The meeting will begin promptly at 7 pm and will conclude by 9 pm.
