Watch Message- Mandatory Water Restricions
Mandatory Water Restrictions issued for The Woodlands
Due to continued extreme hot and dry weather and unprecedented water demand, The Woodlands Joint Powers Agency has issued MANDATORY WATER RESTRICTIONS that limit outdoor irrigation to no more than two (2) days per week and no more than a total of one-inch of potable water applied per week.
To allow adequate pressure for early morning household needs, automatic irrigation timers should be set to complete all watering cycles by 4 a.m. Residential and commercial customers with an Even Numbered Address (0,2,4,6,8) are restricted to watering on Sundays and Thursdays ONLY; customers with an Odd Numbered Address (1,3,5,7,9) are restricted to watering on Saturdays and Wednesdays ONLY. Persons violating the irrigation schedule can be fined up to $200/day per violation.
The restrictions are a matter of public health and safety. Excessive lawn irrigation is the reason The Woodlands is unable to meet the current water demand. If our community adheres to the Mandatory Water Restriction irrigation schedule, adequate water will be available to meet the health and safety needs for the community.

The problem is not with homeowners but with our local government.
Basic needs such as water and electricity should be available in a community. Our current government seems incapable of providing either on a regular basis, always blaming the weather.
We need a government in The Woodlands that can, at a minimum, provide basic utilities to home owners.
I think we need to stop building new homes and businesses until the local officials can explain how utilities will be provided consistently to existing and new homes.
