NAR Studies Buyer and Seller Behaviors and Choices - A Must Read For All Career Minded Realtors

by Ken Brand on November 9, 2008

Up 5:47am early, checking email, Tweets, Facebook and my “authors hand picked” digital newspaper (aka Feedreader).  This blog post screeched my attention to a brow raising ponder.

Are YOU a career minded Realtor?  I implore you to read and ponder this post from Lani Anglin-Rosales, she’s the New Media Director at Agent Genius News.

The 2008 Buyer & Seller Profile Released by NAR is out in the wild, and Lani took the time to bang-bang bullet point the high-impact ah-ha’s.  Here’s an example of the shiny diamonds you’ll find in her blog post.

Other Fancy Results:

1.  Only 1% of sellers chose an agent based on his or her commission.
8.  26% of sellers used their agent in a previous home purchase and 18% of buyers used an agent from a previous purchase.

36.  87% of buyers used the Internet in their search.

41.  Fewer buyers rely on a home book or magazine, home builders, television, billboards and relocation companies

<preaching to the choir rant>"Fewer buyers rely on a home book or magazine" (Well no shiznit sherlock :) ! Why are your agents continually pouring good money after bad in those home grown publications that people sometimes grab at the grocery store and end up letting them yellow in the trunk of their car. Full pages, Double Trucks so on and so forth. Why won't they take a cue from the rest of the world. If I were you, the next time best buy or circuit city does one of those new half sized fly ins in the sunday paper, show it to them and recommend the same, dont eliminate it, down size it and then hold it up against something new. . I promise you the other half of that coin went to a more "un-traditional" ad spend. it's a way for them to give you the same old BS line, "My seller expects to see it there" At least if they cut the ad size down and change the creative on it, they will have something left over to put into a new media channel of some sort. </preaching to the choir rant>
